Former President Boni Yayi Calls on ECOWAS Leaders

Following the events of May 1st and May 2nd that have shaken Benin and  which have resulted in material damages and loss of life, former President Boni Yayi wrote to ECOWAS  acting chairman, Muhammadu Buhari and to other heads of state in the region.

In his cry for help, the former president recalls the history of the electoral process of the 2019 parliamentary elections, the exclusion of the opposition parties, the record low voter turnout and the tension in the country that resulted in loss of life.

In his letter, former President Boni Yayi, indicates that his house is still surrounded and asks for help : “I appeal to your leadership to ensure that measures are urgently taken to guarantee my satefy,that of my family and the opposition”, he said., according to sources close to the former head of state. These sames sources reveal that  content of the letter is  the same for all the recipients, one of them being President Macky Sall of Senegal.  Do not let down Benin,says the former Benin leader.
